Although not perfect small towns do offer glimpses into a time when community meant something different than a Facebook or Google Plus group. Claire and I returned to Ludlow, VT on Saturday night. Today as I passed through town on a bike ride I noticed the Ludlow Garden Club putting up flower boxes on the Memorial Bridge. In larger towns and cities such activity today is done by the Parks and Recreation department or contracted out by the agency charged with such activity. But in small towns civic groups volunteer their time to keep the town attractive and pleasing to visit. Noticing my friend Susan Kneebone among the group, I stopped and asked to take her picture with the Black River in the background. Shot with my Sony Xperia phone camera: 4.5mm, f2.4, 1/640, ISO 50.
