Sunrise at Temporary Alaskan Home

Alaska 2013 0488_HDR I have returned from my Alaskan Fishing trip and have many pictures to share but will be merciful and only post a few. But I had to start with the Lodge itself. Blue Mountain Lodge is owned and operated by Tracy Vrem and his wife Linda. If you visit the website you should take the time to watch the video because it really captures the essence of the operation. Located 60 miles south of King Salmon, AK on the Alaskan Peninsula, the lodge is only accessible by plane. Those of us from the lower 48 have little appreciation for just how much Alaskans depend upon planes and the logistics involved in moving material and supplies to places like the Blue Mountain Lodge. Everything needed to construct and furnish these 2 buildings had to be flown in, including the Toyota truck between the buildings. Power is supplied from a generator housed in the small building visible on the left side. And of course the fuel for the generator needs to be flown in. We had a wonderful week on the tundra of the Alaskan Peninsula and fished some beautiful streams. And as I already stated I took many pictures. This picture was taken on the one non-cloudy morning as the sun rose. Olympus OMD with m.zuiko [email protected], 5 shot HDR, f6.3, 1/20s +/- 2ev.

Dave, thank you very much. We are very excited to see more photos! Our week with you guys went by too fast. It was really a good group and we had lots of fun with you all.

Beautiful early morning sky! I love the way you captured it with all the colors. Those buildings are really a no-frill structure, but my guess it is for a purpose to conserve building supplies and to keep it lasting with little repairs. They look to be built to withstand any cold winds that come their way. What a great vacation for an outdoorsman.
